China and Belarus launch joint military exercises near Polish border

China and Belarus are conducting joint military exercises close to the Polish border. The organizers of the exercise have not provided details on the number of troops involved or the equipment being used. The exercise started shortly before the NATO Summit in Washington.

Named Falcon Assault, the maneuvers will last until July 19 and are taking place on a training ground near the city of Brest, according to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, as reported by Sky News.

The exercises commence just before the NATO Summit in Washington, where all member countries, including Poland, will meet to discuss military and financial support for Ukraine.

“The events happening in the world are alarming, the situation is tense, so we will be practicing new methods for fulfilling tactical tasks,” said Vadim Denisenko, head of the special operations command in Belarus. As part of the “anti-terrorism exercises,” military personnel from China and Belarus will simulate nighttime landings, overcoming water barriers, and conducting operations in a populated area, stated the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.

The Chinese Ministry of Defense mentioned that Belarus organized “a grand welcome ceremony” for the Chinese troops on Thursday.

“The joint training aims to improve the coordination capabilities of the participating troops and deepen practical cooperation between the two armies,” the ministry added.
