China to host Arab leaders this week, with Israeli-Palestinian conflict on agenda

Leaders from Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates are set to gather in Beijing for discussions on enhancing general cooperation and are planning to issue a joint statement on the Palestinian issue.

According to a statement from China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, the leaders will embark on state visits to China and participate in the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum from Tuesday to Saturday.

Among the distinguished delegation will be Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Bahrain’s King Hamad, Tunisian President Kais Saied, and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During a press conference in Beijing, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li announced that President Xi Jinping will attend the forum and deliver a keynote address on Thursday.

Xi would also “hold talks with the four heads of state respectively to exchange views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern,” Deng said.
