Lower Energy Prices for Piatra Neamț: 4.41 Million Lei Contract for Electricity Procurement
Piatra Neamț Municipality has recently signed a strategic electricity supply contract for public institutions under the local administration and 22 educational units. The value of the agreement amounts to 4.41 million lei (excluding VAT), with NEXT ENERGY PARTNERS being the winning company.
The contracting authority – Piatra Neamț City Hall – has secured a supply contract that guarantees uninterrupted electricity provision and, consequently, the smooth operation of educational units and public services.
By using the Romanian Commodities Exchange, the administration sought to ensure transparency and competitiveness in price setting, avoiding major fluctuations in the energy market.
The impact of this procurement goes beyond the technical aspect, bringing direct and indirect benefits to the community. The 22 schools will benefit from electricity at negotiated prices, which ensures the safe conduct of classes under normal conditions. Additionally, public buildings – from the city hall to local institutions – can continue their activity without the risk of interruptions.
A centrally negotiated contract worth over 4 million lei allows for better management of public funds. The resources saved can be redirected towards investments in education, infrastructure, or social programs. In a period when energy prices are unpredictable, Piatra Neamț secures its consumption through a solid contractual partnership. This provides the municipality with medium-term financial stability. Although the contract directly targets public institutions and schools, the residents of the city experience the effects through functional administrative and educational services, better-controlled costs, and reduced pressure on local taxes.
