Poland announced that it can host nuclear weapons on its territory

The Polish president stated on Monday that his country is “prepared” to host nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO decides to strengthen its eastern flank, in response to Russia’s deployment of new weapons in Kaliningrad and Belarus, neighboring countries, as reported by the AFP agency.

“If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of nuclear sharing on our territory to enhance the security of NATO’s eastern flank, we are prepared to do so,” Andrzej Duda told the popular daily Fakt. The president explained that this has been “a subject of discussion between Poles and Americans for some time.”

“We have already talked about this subject several times. I must admit that when asked about it, I stated that we are prepared. Russia is increasingly militarizing the Königsberg district. Recently, it has moved its nuclear weapons to Belarus,” he added.
