ADR Nord in the Republic of Moldova launches a new Regional Sectoral Program to enhance tourism attractiveness 2026–2028
The North Development Region in the Republic of Moldova is undergoing a significant process to strengthen its tourism potential with the development of a new Regional Sectoral Program (RSP) for 2026–2028, aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of tourist destinations.
Coordinated by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord), this initiative seeks to transform the region’s cultural and natural heritage into a driver of sustainable economic growth through investment attraction, local initiative stimulation, and regional promotion at national and international levels.
On Thursday, November 13, ADR Nord hosted the first working group meeting, gathering tourism and culture specialists from local public administrations, representatives of NGOs, local action groups, and economic operators. The meeting focused on identifying strategic directions for tourism development and initial project proposals for inclusion in the RSP.
Maria Prisacari, Director of ADR Nord, highlighted the strategic importance of the program: “Northern Moldova has tourist destinations recognized both nationally and internationally. The program we are developing will serve as a forward-looking strategic framework, maximizing the economic impact of tourism and promoting sustainable sector growth.”

According to ADR Nord experts, the new RSP will focus on diversifying tourism offers, modernizing infrastructure and visitor facilities, increasing destination competitiveness, promoting cultural and ecological tourism, and strengthening administrative and institutional capacities at the local level. The document will also include monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the efficiency of public and private sector investments in tourism.
Olesea Vulpe, representing the National Tourism Office, provided participants with a clear overview of the regulatory framework governing tourism in the Republic of Moldova, emphasizing the need for the regional program to align with national strategies and international standards.
The working group discussions also addressed concrete project ideas, from revitalizing historical and cultural sites to developing eco-tourism routes, modern accommodation infrastructure, and digital tourism promotion platforms. This integrated approach aims not only to increase visitor numbers but also to sustainably boost local revenues and create new jobs.
The development of the new RSP reflects ADR Nord’s ongoing commitment to positioning tourism as a driver of regional economic development. Through strategic investments and effective partnerships, the region aims to become a benchmark for cultural, ecological, and experiential tourism in the Republic of Moldova, generating added value for local communities and enhancing the international image of the northern region.
In the medium and long term, the program’s implementation is expected to generate significant economic effects, including increased capital flows, stimulation of entrepreneurial initiatives, and strengthened tourism infrastructure, contributing to the sustainable development of the North Development Region.
