All Border Crossing Points in Chernivtsi Region Temporarily Suspended Due to Air Raid Alerts

Activity at Border Crossing Points in Chernivtsi Region Temporarily Suspended Due to Air Raid Alerts

All 15 border crossing points in Chernivtsi region have been temporarily closed amid air raid alerts issued in different parts of the region. The measure applies both to border crossing points with the Republic of Moldova and to those along the border with Romania and is intended to ensure the safety of people in the border area.

Border Crossing Points with the Republic of Moldova Suspended for Several Hours

According to Ihor Zarudniev, Head of the Communications Section of the Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment, cited by molbuk.ua, the operation of border crossing points located along the border with the Republic of Moldova, in Dnister district, has been temporarily suspended.

In this area, the air raid alert was issued at 3:09 a.m., and the border crossing points have remained out of operation for nearly six hours. Cross-border traffic remains suspended for the duration of the alert, until the authorities determine that operations can safely resume.

Traffic Also Suspended at the Border with Romania

The operation of border crossing points along the Ukraine–Romania border has also been temporarily suspended. The decision was taken after an air raid alert was issued in Chernivtsi district at 6:17 a.m..

The measure temporarily affects the movement of people and vehicles through the region’s border crossing points, which may result in waiting times and delays for those planning to cross the border while the alert remains in effect.

Two Drones Detected in the Region

The suspension of border crossing operations comes amid reports of a potential aerial threat in the region. Earlier, Ruslan Osipenko, Head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, announced that two drones had been detected in the region.

The official also warned of a possible threat in the Porubne area, one of the main cross-border traffic routes between Ukraine and Romania.

15 Border Crossing Points in Chernivtsi Region

There are a total of 15 border crossing points in Chernivtsi region, providing cross-border connections with Romania and the Republic of Moldova. They play an important role in the movement of people, road transport and the development of cross-border economic exchanges.

When an air raid alert is issued, the authorities may temporarily suspend operations at border crossing points in order to limit the exposure of personnel and travelers to potential risks.

Operations to Resume Within Minutes After the Alert Ends

According to the authorities, border crossing points are expected to resume operations approximately 3–5 minutes after the air raid alert ends, provided that the security situation allows it.

The suspension is therefore temporary and directly dependent on the security situation in the region. Travelers are advised to take potential delays into account and check the status of the relevant border crossing point before heading to the border.

Security Measure Applied During Air Raid Alerts

In Ukraine, border crossing points may be temporarily closed during air raid alerts, particularly when the authorities receive information regarding aerial targets moving toward the state border.

The suspension of traffic is a preventive measure aimed at protecting both people crossing the border and border guard and customs personnel until the threat has passed.
