An inter-ministerial memorandum of understanding between the Nordic and Baltic states and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova was signed today in Chișinău. The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, who also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that “the document will support the strengthening of Moldova’s institutional capacities.”
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, this cooperation will enhance the country’s ability to respond to international challenges and adapt quickly to geopolitical changes.
“The expansion of the diplomatic presence of the Nordic and Baltic countries in Chișinău throughout this year, such as the opening of the Danish Embassy and a Norwegian Embassy office, is a clear sign of your firm commitment to support the Republic of Moldova. This expansion not only strengthens bilateral relations but also creates additional opportunities for cooperation between our citizens, thus facilitating a better mutual understanding and the development of closer ties,” said Mihai Popșoi.
The official also mentioned that, in addition to the country’s integration into the European Union, the Republic of Moldova enjoys close collaboration with the Nordic and Baltic states. Moreover, the authorities in Chișinău are determined “to remain a reliable partner for the Nordic and Baltic countries and for the entire European Community.”
“Your support, through your presence and concrete actions, gives us confidence and ensures that Moldova will continue advancing on its European path, despite the obstacles we face. We are determined to remain a reliable partner for the Nordic and Baltic countries and for the entire European Community. We will continue to actively engage in international efforts to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and contribute to regional and global security. We remain steadfast in our commitment to build a European, modern, democratic Moldova, capable of facing contemporary challenges and taking on an increasingly active role in the European Community,” said Mihai Popșoi.
Additionally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked Sweden for coordinating this Nordic-Baltic format. “Thank you also for the essential contribution you have made in strengthening our collaboration within this unique initiative. We are committed to continuing to explore new opportunities for cooperation, to celebrate our shared values that unite us, and to work together for the peaceful and prosperous future of the Republic of Moldova in the greater European family,” Mihai Popșoi remarked.
