The construction of the Vulcănești-Chișinău Overhead Power Line (LEA) has expanded across several segments with a cumulative length of over 30 kilometers, or approximately 20% of its total length, according to Ruslan Surugiu, the Director of the Energy Projects Implementation Unit, responsible for this project.
He mentioned that over 70% of the landowners or tenants on whose land the works were carried out have received compensation for the temporary or permanent expropriation of their land.
“Being directly responsible for the expropriation procedure, the UCIPE team is making an effort to reach each person to explain the expropriation process, how evaluations for compensation are conducted, and what the benefits are both for them and for the country in general,” said Ruslan Surugiu.
It is noted that the Vulcănești-Chișinău Overhead Power Line will have a length of 157 kilometers. Thus, over 500 pylons and 1,500 kilometers of conductors will ensure the strategic connection between the south and the center by crossing 8 districts and 35 localities. Depending on the electro-energy system regime, the line will allow the transit of an energy flow that could meet 50 percent of the energy needs during peak consumption periods.
The construction of the overhead power line is part of the Electroenergy System Development Project. Its value is 61 million euros, of which about 27 million euros are for the construction of the line. The project is funded by the World Bank.
