Dorin Recean conveyed a message of appreciation to Alexandru Munteanu for his decision to take the helm of the future Cabinet. At the start of the government meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that Munteanu possesses solid experience that will enable him to contribute to modernizing the administration and energizing societal processes.
“I want to thank Mr. Alexandru Munteanu for accepting to come and lead the next government, which has an important task ahead. I have known Mr. Munteanu since university—he was my professor. Beyond the fact that he has extraordinary experience in mentoring and developing students, his professional background, his experience in nurturing people, his expertise as an economist, entrepreneur, and investor will bring exactly the fresh momentum to the government and society that we need to develop the economy,” Recean stated.
In addition, Prime Minister Recean, who announced on Friday that he is retiring from politics, thanked his colleagues for their work over the past years.
“This is our last meeting in this format, and I want to thank each of you for assuming such important roles during a period that was both challenging and demanding, but one in which we achieved very good results together. Our country is closer than ever to our strategic goal—to become members of the European Union. I thank you for your commitment, dedication, and for constantly being under extraordinary scrutiny from society, the press, and civil society. This joint effort, together with society, has brought us here,” he noted.
Recean also expressed gratitude to public officials who worked to bring the country closer to the European Union and to improve citizens’ lives.
“I want to extend words of appreciation to public servants, those in the State Chancellery, and those in the institutions you represent, because they worked tirelessly beyond their normal agenda, including on European integration, as well as numerous projects aimed at improving citizens’ lives. I also thank our partners present at the government meeting for the attention they have given to public policies, for their critique, their praise and recognition, but most importantly—for helping us remain a united society focused on human dignity, the independence of Moldova, and on demonstrating that Moldova is a European country,” Recean added, with applause from ministers and attendees.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that Munteanu’s experience is valuable in managing two essential areas during this period—security and judicial reform—key elements for a healthy economy.
“I am confident that from this point onward, we are moving in the right direction,” he concluded.
