Maia Sandu discuss referendum on Moldova’s accession to European Union with business representatives

Today, President Maia Sandu convened with representatives from various business associations in Moldova to discuss the forthcoming referendum regarding the country’s potential accession to the European Union.

During the meeting, the head of state emphasized that the well-being of all citizens hinges on Moldova’s economic progress, asserting that a robust economy and a competitive business environment can only be fostered within the European Union. President Sandu also underscored the necessity of effectively communicating the benefits of EU integration within all sectors of society, including among professionals and businesses, to garner widespread support for the integration process.

Consultations regarding the referendum will persist in the coming weeks, with plans for the plebiscite to potentially take place in the autumn of 2024.
