Maia Sandu stressed out at Tirana the importance of Europe’s unity before security dangers

During the Ukraine-South Eastern Europe Summit held in Tirana, President Maia Sandu, together with leaders from South-East European countries, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and fostering regional cooperation for a safer and more robust Europe.

‘’In the third year of war, our voices stay firm – to be with Ukraine means to support also our countries, to ensure peace, security and a democratic future for our continent,’’ the Moldovan head of state said.

During the meeting, President Maia Sandu held discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, focusing on Ukraine’s ongoing resistance to the Russian invasion and the shared future of both nations within the European Union.

„After two years of heroic defence before Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression, I expressed Moldova’s resolute support for Ukraine’s victory and a sustainable peace. Just on these days, a new consignment of humanitarian assistance, made up of electric, medical equipment, glass and food products, was sent to the Mykolaiv city. Moldova and its citizens will continue doing their utmost to back the neighbour country, which resists the Russian invasion and thus protects our peace as well. The Tirana Summit was another opportunity for Moldova to join the calls to the international community to increase the support for Ukraine,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

Additionally, the Moldovan president engaged in bilateral talks with the summit’s host, Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, and President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović. During these discussions, the leaders reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, strengthening regional cooperation, and progressing towards European Union membership.
