Modern photovoltaic park built in Căușeni district

An area that was previously a waste dump has been transformed into a photovoltaic park in the village of Cîrnățeni, Căușeni district. A power plant with 660 photovoltaic panels has been built here, with a total capacity of 300 kilowatts.

Thanks to funding from the “European Village” program, local authorities have managed to convert solar energy into electricity and improve the energy efficiency of the locality.

The village mayor, Oleg Savca, explains that the idea of building a photovoltaic park emerged in 2022, in the context of the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. “An important factor was also the fact that dozens of households in our country were left without electricity when the energy infrastructure in Ukraine was being bombarded,” says Savca. He decided to apply for funding from the European Village Program for this project. The locality received five million lei from the program, with a personal contribution of one million lei.

At the moment, it generates electricity at peak hours, producing around 230-250 and even up to 290 kW per hour. The park has a capacity of 300 kW per hour. We have 660 panels of 550 Wh,” says Oleg Savca.

The park was built on a two-hectare plot. Construction began in 2023, and the park was recently put into operation. So far, it has produced 83 thousand kW of electricity. Authorities estimate that the total investment of nearly 6 million lei will be recouped in less than 10 years.
