Moldova Takes Major Steps Toward EU Transport Alignment with European Support

The alignment of Moldova’s national transport policy with European standards was the focus of recent discussions held in Brussels

The meetings involved the State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), Mircea Păscăluță, and European officials from the transport sector, including the Director of the Transport Community (TCT), Matej Zakonjšek, and the Director-General of DG Move, Magda Kopczyńska.

The discussions aimed to strengthen cooperation with the TCT, as well as provide technical assistance and expertise to Moldova in aligning its national legislation on transport and road infrastructure with European standards.

“During the meeting with Matej Zakonjšek, the parties discussed the preparation of a plan and roadmap for implementing EU legal acts in road and rail transport operations. The importance of technical assistance for developing the National Strategy for Integrated Transport Systems in Moldova was also emphasized,” the Ministry stated in a press release.

Additionally, a workshop was proposed, involving experts from North Macedonia and Albania, to share their experiences in harmonizing national legislation with the two relevant chapters of the EU transport acquis.
