Moldovan government sets new goals of development of transport, infrastructure till 2030

The Government of the Republic of Moldova is building a sustainable and modern transport system that is accessible and safe for its citizens. In this context, the Cabinet of Ministers has today approved the 2030 Mobility Strategy, which will ensure the development of Moldova’s infrastructure based on high-quality standards in line with European norms.

The document includes a detailed analysis of the current situation in the sector, the main challenges faced by Moldova regarding freight and passenger mobility, and the intervention measures to address these issues.

Among the objectives to be achieved are improving the road network and road services, interconnecting regional road transport programs, and ensuring efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly road freight transport. This aims to reduce congestion at border checkpoints, digitize all licenses, authorizations, and permits, and facilitate access to the international market.

Additionally, the Strategy addresses the modernization of railway services, the development of maritime transport, and the improvement of air traffic management.

To monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Strategy, indicators such as the number of kilometers of rehabilitated roads, the volume of freight transported, and the number of airlines attracted to Moldova’s aviation market will be assessed.
