The first electric vehicle factory in Moldova to open in Trușeni

In the Republic of Moldova, the first electric transport factory will be constructed, as announced by the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba. The new industrial unit will be located on the Chișinău-Ungheni route, near the commune of Trușeni. The minister specified that local production of electric trolleybuses and buses will commence within a year.

The company that will build the 20,000 square meter factory has been active in the Moldovan market since 2000 and is known for producing electronic equipment for buses, trolleybuses, trams, and trains.

“Tested last summer and put into operation in Bălți, the bus has a range of up to 70 km and can be charged in 30 minutes. The company has also delivered 17 electric trolleybuses to Bălți, with another five expected to arrive there by the end of August,” stated Dumitru Alaiba.

According to the minister, the new factory would create approximately 100 jobs.

“For the local community, this means about 100 new jobs. We support the local production of electric transport as it is the most ecological,” said Minister Dumitru Alaiba.

The company hopes that with the construction of the new factory, production will increase fivefold and vehicles will be sold not only in cities across Moldova but also in Romania and Ukraine.

The cost of a trolleybus is 300,000 euros, while an electric bus can cost up to 500,000 euros. The chassis, axles, electric motor, lubrication system, and other components are imported from the European Union, while the electronic parts are produced locally.
