Natural gas deliveries to Transnistria are set to be restored shortly, according to Roman Roșca, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.
He stated that responsible institutions are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to implement support measures for citizens and industries on the left bank of the Dniester.
The resumption of payments to the supplier Moldovagaz will allow gas flows to restart. “The payer is changing, which is why financing for the next gas delivery has been activated, but these payments will resume shortly and gas will reach the region,” Roșca explained.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that any form of support for the population, including compensation, is conditional on compliance with Moldovan legislation. European Union aid remains available but depends on adherence to legal standards designed to directly benefit local residents.
Authorities in Chișinău have continued expanding the energy infrastructure. In 2025, the localities of Copanca, Hârbovăț, Hagimus, and Fârlădeni were connected to the right-bank gas network, and recently the villages of Coșnița, Doroțcaia, and Pârâta on the left bank were also connected.
Localities such as Varnița, Cocieri, Molovata Nouă, and Corjova, dependent on Tiraspoltransgaz, remain vulnerable but are part of an ongoing dialogue process between authorities.
Since October 2, Transnistria has been under a gas-saving regime, scheduled until October 12-13. Schools, hospitals, and household consumers are not affected, but industrial and commercial consumers will feel the restrictions. According to the so-called Minister of Economic Development of Tiraspol, Serghei Obolonik, the measure was imposed due to “unfavorable external circumstances” and to restore financial flows from Russia.
A similar situation occurred in June 2025, when gas restrictions temporarily affected economic and industrial activity in the region.
The resumption of deliveries and expansion of energy infrastructure are crucial steps for Transnistria’s economic and energy stability, while monitoring payments and preparing support for the population reflect the authorities’ concern in Chișinău for the continuity of essential services.
