The two officials described the decision as a significant milestone in the Republic of Moldova’s European integration path and a confirmation of the steady progress achieved in the accession process.

Igor Grosu: Reforms Are Delivering Tangible Results

In a message published on social media, Igor Grosu emphasized that the launch of negotiations under Cluster VI demonstrates the effectiveness of the reforms implemented in recent years and reflects the Republic of Moldova’s continued progress toward European Union membership.

According to the Speaker of Parliament, the Republic of Moldova has strengthened its position as a reliable partner of the European Union by contributing to the security and resilience of Europe while demonstrating its ability to address current challenges alongside EU Member States.

Vasile Tofan: Opening All Negotiation Chapters Is the Top Priority

Prime Minister-designate Vasile Tofan stated that the progress achieved is the result of the sustained efforts made by the Republic of Moldova’s governments over recent years, as well as by state institutions and citizens who have consistently supported the country’s European course.

He stressed that the authorities’ primary responsibility is to accelerate the accession process by opening the remaining negotiation chapters and preparing for the signing of the Accession Treaty, emphasizing that “we have no right to fail.”

Second Negotiation Cluster Opened in the Republic of Moldova’s EU Accession Process

On 14 July, the Republic of Moldova officially opened accession negotiations with the European Union under Cluster VI – “External Relations” during the Third Intergovernmental Conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, held in Brussels.

This is the second negotiation cluster to be opened in the accession process, following the launch of Cluster I – “Fundamentals”, at the end of June, marking another important step in the Republic of Moldova’s roadmap toward European Union membership.
