Between October 13–18, 2025, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, led a delegation to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C.
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen international economic relations and support the country’s European integration path.
High-Level Dialogue with the IMF
During the meeting with the IMF Deputy Managing Director, Anca Dragu presented Moldova’s progress in financial stability and structural reforms. Key achievements highlighted included maintaining a solid and well-capitalized banking sector, increasing transparency and governance at the National Bank, and modernizing payment infrastructure. These measures contribute to aligning Moldova’s financial system with European standards and boosting international investor confidence.
Additionally, Moldova’s accession to the Eurozone Payment System (SEPA) and the successful completion of Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) missions were recognized as clear indicators of progress.
Continuous Collaboration for European Integration
Anca Dragu discussed with IMF officials the importance of continuing reforms in governance, transparency, and the development of a robust macroprudential framework. These measures are essential for European integration and strengthening investor confidence.
