Soroca Marks 35 Years of Independence of the Republic of Moldova

The municipality of Soroca marked the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova on August 27 with a festive program dedicated to 35 years of independence. Representatives of the municipal and district administrations, guests from Romania, veterans and local residents attended the events.

Tribute to the Heroes of the Republic of Moldova

On this occasion, officials and participants laid flowers at the Monument to Stephen the Great, as well as at the Monument to the Heroes who fell in the 1992 armed conflict defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

The commemorative gesture paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to defend the state and preserve the country’s independence and sovereignty.

Exhibition and Festive Concert at the Palace of Culture

The Independence Day program continued with an exhibition of folk craftsmen, showcasing local traditions and cultural heritage.

The festive events concluded with a concert held in the hall of the Palace of Culture in Soroca, featuring artistic performances dedicated to the national celebration.

Lilia Pilipețchi: Independence as a Symbol of Unity

In her address, Soroca Mayor Lilia Pilipețchi congratulated residents on Independence Day and emphasized the importance of the celebration for society.

The mayor highlighted that Independence Day is an appropriate occasion to preserve the memory of the past and honor those who sacrificed their lives so that the Republic of Moldova could remain a free, independent and sovereign state.

She also emphasized that the celebration unites citizens and reminds them of the country’s values and beauty, as well as of their responsibility to be worthy citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

New Honorary Citizens of Soroca District

During the ceremony, the titles of Honorary Citizen of Soroca District were awarded. Among those honored was Veaceslav Rusnac, President of Soroca District.

Soroca Prepares for the City Patron Saint’s Day

The series of festive events will continue on August 28, when residents and guests are invited to participate in celebrations dedicated to the Patron Saint’s Day and City Day of Soroca.
