Iran launched strikes on targets in Iraq and Syria

Explosions were heard in the vicinity of the major city of Erbil. The attack targeted the U.S. consulate and the American base at the city’s airport. Rockets also presumably hit residential homes and farms north of Erbil

U.S. officials confirmed that some of the Iranian missiles struck “in close proximity to the U.S. consulate.”

According to security sources in Erbil, four civilians were killed, and five others were injured as a result of the attack.

The “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps” (IRGC) claimed responsibility for attacking an “Israeli spy center” near the city of Erbil, as well as targets in Syria linked to the “Islamic State.”

Drones were also used in the attack, likely launched from Iraqi territory.

The U.S. strongly condemns the strikes, stated the U.S. State Department, expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
