“Liberty Line,” the U.S.-backed strategic project, strengthens the Republic of Moldova’s energy security and opens new opportunities for investment

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu Held a Meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova, Nick Pietrowicz, During Which the Main Discussions Focused on Strengthening the Country’s Energy Security

Progress in the Development of the Strășeni–Gutinaș Power Line

During the meeting, the U.S. side presented the pre-feasibility study for the 400 kV Strășeni–Gutinaș overhead power transmission line, known as the “Liberty Line.” This strategic project is intended to strengthen the interconnection of the Republic of Moldova’s power system with Romania and, consequently, with the European energy market.

Growing Interest in U.S. Investments

The Prime Minister stated that the next stages of the project, as well as opportunities to accelerate U.S. investments in the Republic of Moldova, were discussed. According to him, interest from American investors in the country is growing and should be leveraged through concrete measures.

Energy Infrastructure as a Driver of Economic Development

Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that the modernization of energy infrastructure must go hand in hand with economic development, as a secure and efficient energy system enhances the Republic of Moldova’s attractiveness to investors.

Appreciation for U.S. Support

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of Government expressed his gratitude to the United States for its consistent support of the Republic of Moldova, highlighting the importance of the bilateral partnership and the tangible results achieved in the field of energy security.
