Moldova Hosts the 16th Meeting of the Parliamentary Association Committee with the EU

On Friday, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will host the 16th meeting of the Moldova–European Union Parliamentary Association Committee.

The event will be co-chaired by Marcel Spatari, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration, and MEP Siegfried Mureșan, according to IPN.

The meeting will focus on key topics related to Moldova’s European path, including the progress of EU accession negotiations, regional security issues, and the country’s ability to respond to hybrid threats. At the end of the discussions, the co-chairs will hold a press conference to share conclusions and future perspectives.

In parallel, the European Parliament delegation will hold official meetings in Chișinău with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Vice-President of Parliament Doina Gherman, as well as other key state officials.

The European delegation, led by Siegfried Mureșan, includes MEPs Maria Grapini, Jonas Sjöstedt, Liudas Mažylis, Krzysztof Brejza, and Dan Barna, alongside Iwona Piórko, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, and Anca-Maria Simion-Neagoe, Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office for the Eastern Partnership.

The Parliamentary Association Committee between Moldova and the European Union operates under the Association Agreement and meets twice a year, bringing together parliamentarians from Chișinău and Brussels. The committee sessions monitor the implementation of the Agreement, coordinate joint actions, and strengthen parliamentary dialogue between the two sides.
