Moldova Promotes Its Tourism Offer in India. Wine Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Authentic Experiences Presented to the Business Community
The Republic of Moldova is stepping up efforts to promote its tourism sector on international markets with growth potential, with India emerging as one of the areas of interest for developing new tourism and economic connections.
Moldova’s tourism potential was presented at the Moldova–India Business Forum, held in Chișinău on July 20, 2026, with the participation of the presidential delegation of the Republic of India. The event provided a platform for strengthening relations between the two countries and identifying cooperation opportunities in several areas, including tourism.
During the session dedicated to bilateral opportunities between the Republic of Moldova and India, Ana Șandra, interim director of the National Tourism Office, delivered a country presentation highlighting Moldova’s main assets as a tourism destination.
Moldova presents its competitive advantages to the Indian market
The Republic of Moldova’s tourism offer was presented through the diversity of experiences the country can provide to international visitors.
Among the key elements promoted were the country’s cultural and historical heritage, gastronomy, local traditions, wine and rural tourism, as well as authentic experiences connected to the lifestyle and cultural identity of the Republic of Moldova.
These components represent some of the country’s key competitive advantages in an international tourism industry where travelers are increasingly seeking local experiences, authentic products and destinations capable of combining culture, gastronomy, nature and hospitality.
For the Republic of Moldova, wine tourism is one of the country’s most visible tourism products with international potential. Wineries, cellars and the country’s winemaking tradition are not only tourist attractions, but also important elements in promoting Moldova’s economic and cultural identity.
At the same time, rural and gastronomic tourism offer opportunities for the development of integrated tourism products that can include accommodation, culinary experiences, visits to local producers and cultural activities.
India, a market with potential for expanding tourism flows
Moldova’s participation in a business forum attended by representatives of India creates a platform for developing direct relations between institutions and companies from the two countries.
India is one of the world’s largest tourism markets, and developing relations with tour operators and representatives of the tourism industry could contribute to increasing the visibility of the Republic of Moldova among Indian travelers.
In this context, promoting a relatively small destination with a diversified tourism offer requires the development of partnerships with travel agencies, specialized operators and other companies that could contribute to including the Republic of Moldova in regional and European tourism circuits.
Direct contacts with business representatives can also facilitate the exchange of information regarding traveler preferences, demand on the Indian market and the types of tourism products with the greatest potential.
Tourism promotion, linked to the development of economic relations
Business forums are particularly important for tourism promotion because they make it possible to connect the presentation of a destination directly with the interests of the business community.
In the case of the Republic of Moldova, the development of tourism relations with India could generate effects across several economic segments, including hospitality, transport, food services, wine and food production, cultural services and creative industries.
An increase in the number of foreign tourists could contribute to the development of local businesses and generate additional demand for domestic products and services. In the case of rural and wine tourism, the benefits could also extend beyond major urban centers by increasing interest in guesthouses, wineries, local producers and cultural attractions.
Therefore, attracting new tourist flows is not only a promotional objective, but also a direction with an impact on the economic development of communities and businesses operating in the hospitality industry.
The National Tourism Office seeks to expand international cooperation
Participation in the Moldova–India Business Forum is part of the National Tourism Office’s efforts to increase the visibility of the Republic of Moldova on international markets and strengthen cooperation with foreign partners.
The institution has reaffirmed its openness to international partnerships that can contribute to promoting the country as a tourism destination and developing new connections between Moldova’s tourism industry and representatives of foreign markets.
For the Republic of Moldova, the objective is to turn international interest in the country into concrete business contacts, partnerships and tourism flows. In this process, promoting a tourism offer based on heritage, wine, gastronomy, traditions and local experiences can be an important tool for strengthening the country’s position on the international tourism map.
Participation in the Chișinău forum therefore provided a new platform for presenting the Republic of Moldova to representatives of India’s business community and tourism industry, at a time when the development of international relations and the diversification of source markets are becoming increasingly important for the national tourism sector.
