Păun Rohovei Appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova

Păun Rohovei has been appointed the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the decree on Friday, February 7, 2025

Prior to this appointment, Păun Rohovei served as Ambassador with Special Missions within Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was responsible for the Transnistrian settlement dossier. He also held several positions within the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania and the diplomatic mission accredited to Chișinău.

“On behalf of the team of the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania, we congratulate Păun Rohovei on his appointment as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova,” stated the Embassy’s message on social media.

Păun Rohovei is originally from Chernivtsi and studied at Chernivtsi University in the Faculty of History, later graduating from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He speaks Romanian fluently, which is a significant advantage in the context of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In 2023, Rohovei was appointed Ambassador with Special Missions and was in charge of the Transnistrian settlement dossier. Between 2020 and 2022, he served as the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Ukraine in Romania.

Rohovei succeeds Marko Shevchenko, the former Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova, who has concluded his diplomatic mission.
