Priorities of the Polish Presidency
During its six-month mandate, Poland aims to:
- Strengthen the security of the European Union in all its dimensions – external, internal, economic, and informational;
- Promote economic competitiveness by supporting innovations and adapting European economies to new global realities;
- Defend fundamental European values, focusing on freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
This presidency is part of the Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio, which coordinates the EU Council until June 2026. The common program of the three countries is based on three strategic pillars: a secure, prosperous, and democratic Europe.
Context of the Presidency
This is the second time Poland holds the Presidency of the EU Council, the first being in 2011. At a time of escalating geopolitical tensions and global economic challenges, Warsaw faces the difficult task of guiding the Union toward common solutions while maintaining political unity.
Role of the Rotating Presidency
The Presidency of the EU Council is a key element in the Union’s institutional architecture, offering each member state the opportunity to influence the European agenda for six months. Poland assumes this role at a critical moment, proposing ambitious solutions to strengthen the EU’s position in the world.
By taking on this mandate, Poland commits to meeting expectations and actively contributing to a safer and more prosperous future for all member states.
