Republic of Moldova Expands Its Diplomatic Representation in Europe: New Appointments in Portugal, Serbia and Montenegro

The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved several decisions at today’s meeting concerning changes to the country’s diplomatic corps.

These include the appointment of a new ambassador to Portugal, a new consul general in Istanbul, as well as the expansion of the mandate of the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania.

Sergiu Gurduza appointed Ambassador to Portugal

Sergiu Gurduza has been recalled from his position as Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Istanbul and appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Portugal. Valeriu Sacagiu has been appointed to serve as Consul General in Istanbul.

Mihail Mîțu to represent the Republic of Moldova in Serbia and Montenegro

Another decision concerns Mihail Mîțu, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania. He will also serve, concurrently, as Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Serbia and Montenegro, with residence in Bucharest.

Recall of the Consul General in Frankfurt

At the same meeting, the Government approved the recall of Mihail Căpățînă from his position as Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Frankfurt.
