Romania reaffirmed its support for the government in Chişinău: Ambassador Cristian‑Leon Țurcanu emphasises the importance of bilateral projects for economic development and European integration

The Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian‑Leon Țurcanu, extended a formal congratulatory message to the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, following his vote of confidence in the Parliament in Chişinău.

In the context of this governmental change, the Romanian diplomat reiterated Romania’s commitment to maintain a close and efficient cooperation with the Moldovan Executive, focused on concrete projects that strengthen the bilateral partnership and generate lasting outcomes for the economies and societies of both states.


Strategic partnership and joint economic projects

In his publicly posted message, Ambassador Țurcanu underlined that the relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova has a strategic dimension, built upon shared values such as language, history, culture, as well as convergent economic and European interests. “I am convinced that we will work closely to further develop concrete projects aimed at deepening and providing new perspectives to the bilateral relationship. Together, we will elevate our strong partnership to a new level, with lasting results for the citizens on both banks of the Prut,” the ambassador stated.

He noted that Romania will continue to support infrastructure initiatives, strategic investments and regional development projects that have a direct impact on economic growth and the standard of living of the population. Specifically, the shared objectives target accelerating connectivity between the two states, supporting the private sector, and attracting European funds for innovative projects.

Recognition for the previous government and continuity in cooperation

At the same time, Cristian‑Leon Țurcanu thanked the former Prime Minister Dorin Recean for the consistent collaboration and openness shown during his term in consolidating the strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. “His mandate was characterised by constructive dialogue, joint projects and a shared European vision, which strengthened the relations between the two banks of the Prut,” the ambassador stressed.
