The European Parliament Calls for Accelerating the Republic of Moldova’s EU Accession Negotiations and Opening All Negotiating Clusters

The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Approves Report on the Republic of Moldova, Calling for the Acceleration of Its EU Integration Process

The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has approved the report on the Republic of Moldova, a document that includes amendments aimed at accelerating the country’s European integration process.

Among these is a call to launch accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova across the various negotiating clusters without delay.

Amendments Proposed by Siegfried Mureșan

Member of the European Parliament Siegfried Mureșan announced that one of the amendments he proposed and which was incorporated into the report calls for the swift opening of negotiations on the negotiating clusters. The document also highlights the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in implementing pro-European reforms, despite the influence and pressure exerted by the Russian Federation.

Call for Enhanced European Support

The report also includes another amendment initiated by Mureșan, through which the European Parliament calls on the European Union to strengthen its support for the Republic of Moldova in order to enable the country to continue its reform agenda and advance along its European path.

Next Steps and Victor Negrescu’s Appeal

Following its approval by the parliamentary committee, the report will be submitted for a vote in the plenary session of the European Parliament. At the same time, European Parliament Vice-President Victor Negrescu has called for the launch of political negotiations and the opening of all negotiating clusters with the Republic of Moldova, announcing that he has sent a letter to the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union to that effect.
