The European Union Invests €2.1 Million in Developing Community Services for Vulnerable Children in the Republic of Moldova

The European Union will provide financial support for the establishment of at least four “Community House” social services dedicated to children with severe disabilities in the Republic of Moldova who are currently living in residential care institutions.

To this end, a grant competition has been launched in Chișinău for civil society organizations with experience in developing social services.

Supporting Inclusion and Personalized Care

The initiative aims to develop community-based services that provide individualized care tailored to each child’s needs while promoting their social inclusion. Through these new community houses, at least 20 children will be transferred from residential institutions to family-like living environments, where they will receive support from specialized professionals.

€560,000 in Funding for Civil Society Organizations

Non-governmental organizations active in the development of social services are invited to submit project proposals under the grant call. A total of €560,000 has been allocated to support the establishment and operation of the new community houses.

European Project Supporting Child Protection Reform

The grant competition is part of the project “Stronger Civil Society – Safer Childhood: Supporting the Transformation of the Child Protection System in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by Keystone Moldova, CCF Moldova – Child, Community, Family, and Partnerships for Every Child.

Programme Timeline

Interested organizations may submit their applications until 3 August 2026, while the results of the selection process are expected to be announced within approximately three months after the application deadline.

€2.1 Million Investment Through 2029

The project has a total budget of €2.1 million and will run until January 2029. Its primary objective is to strengthen the role of civil society organizations within the child protection system while expanding access for vulnerable children and their families to sustainable, family-centered, and community-based protection services.
