The Goethe-Institut is inaugurating a representative office in Chișinău, which will operate on the basis of the Goethe-Zentrum Cultural Center. This new structure will implement cultural programs, support European transformation processes, and contribute to strengthening civil society. The event marks an important milestone in deepening cultural cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Germany.

Expanded opportunities for cultural collaboration

Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan emphasized that the presence of the Goethe-Institut in the capital of the Republic of Moldova will open up new perspectives for joint projects, professional exchanges, and interaction between the cultural communities of the two countries. He recalled that, since the launch of Goethe-Zentrum Akzente in 2007, Moldovan-German cultural cooperation has achieved notable results, and that the new representative office will strengthen and diversify existing cultural, educational, and artistic initiatives.

Continuity of a long-standing partnership

Cristian Jardan underlined that the signing of the joint declaration of intent represents a major step in the development of cultural relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany. He noted that these relations date back to 1995, and that last year marked 30 years since the signing of the cultural cooperation agreement, the document that laid the foundation for the opening of the current Goethe-Institut representative office in Chișinău.

German State Secretary Bernhard Kotsch stated that the new branch will support professional exchanges, training in media literacy, and European transformation processes, adapting to current geopolitical realities. In the context of the war in Ukraine, solid partnerships become essential, and the Goethe-Institut will contribute to strengthening Moldovan-German relations and promoting European values.
