The Republic of Moldova and Argentina advance air cooperation by opening new bilateral connections
The Republic of Moldova takes an important step in expanding its international air connections, turning its focus toward South America.
The Government has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the initiation of negotiations for signing a bilateral air services agreement with Argentina.
Objectives of the Agreement
This initiative represents a first in the aeronautical relations between the two states and aims to create new opportunities for mobility, economic cooperation, and tourism development. The agreement will establish the legal framework necessary for operating flights, including clear rules on aviation safety and security, tariff transparency, and procedures for flight authorization.
Technical and Administrative Aspects
The document will also regulate the technical mechanisms through which flights between designated points in the two countries will be operated. At the same time, the Government has appointed an official delegation to conduct technical negotiations with the authorities in Buenos Aires in order to finalize the agreement.
Economic and Strategic Impact
According to the authorities, the launch of potential direct flights or improved connections will have positive effects on the economy. The expansion of routes from Chișinău to destinations in Argentina could strengthen the position of “Eugen Doga” International Airport as a regional hub, attracting more passengers and increasing competition in the aviation market.
Long-term Benefits
The initiative will contribute to improving services for citizens, strengthening diplomatic relations, and stimulating investments by facilitating business contacts between companies from both countries. At the same time, it aligns with the national policy of removing barriers in air transport and integrating the country into the global economy.
