The Republic of Moldova Has Leaders Who Can Lead It Towards the European Union

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, delivered a message of support for the Republic of Moldova’s European path on Thursday evening in Chișinău, stating that the country is increasingly close to joining the European Union. The Romanian head of state highlighted both the role of the leadership in Chișinău and the support of citizens for this objective.

The speech was delivered in the Great National Assembly Square, in front of thousands of people gathered ahead of the festive concert organized to mark the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.

National Identity as the Foundation of the European Path

Nicușor Dan emphasized that, despite the challenges and difficult periods the Republic of Moldova has faced throughout its history, the country has preserved its culture, traditions and national identity.

The President of Romania stated that the Republic of Moldova is approaching the moment of accession to the European Union and praised the ability of the country’s leadership to guide it in this direction.

“There is only a little way to go before the Republic of Moldova enters where it belongs, in the European Union. It has leaders who know how to take it there, and it has all of you who support this goal,” Nicușor Dan said.

Solidarity with Ukraine and the Protection of Identity

In his speech, the Romanian head of state also referred to Ukraine and its President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was present at the event alongside the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

Nicușor Dan highlighted the example of the Ukrainian people, who, amid the ongoing war, continue to defend their national identity and values.

“President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people are proving that when there is awareness and when people defend their identity, nothing can stand in their way,” the President of Romania stated.
