The Republic of Moldova has secured the gas needed for the heating season: Energocom has contracted 76% of annual consumption

Energocom has fully contracted the volume of natural gas needed to cover the projected consumption for the period from October 2026 to March 2027.

For the entire gas year, the company has so far secured approximately 76% of the estimated gas requirement.

More than 3.8 million MWh of gas contracted

For the 2026–2027 heating season, Energocom has purchased 3,832,693 MWh of natural gas, with the contracted volumes to be delivered throughout the cold season, according to consumption needs.

24 rounds of tenders

The procurement process began in July. So far, 24 rounds of tenders have been organized, 23 of which were successfully completed. Eleven companies from Romania, Austria, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Malta, Germany and Greece participated in the procedures.

Reserves for the upcoming winter

Energocom will continue its procurement efforts to meet the obligation to establish gas reserves by November 1, 2026. The reserves must amount to 15% of the projected consumption for one gas year, equivalent to approximately 134.5 million cubic meters of gas.

Part of this volume has already been secured and is to be stored in neighboring countries with available gas storage facilities.

The price will be determined based on the European market

According to Energocom, the gas is contracted in advance through forward products. Therefore, the final price is not determined at the time the contracts are signed, but will be calculated later based on a pricing formula indexed to TTF Front Month for the month preceding delivery.

Procurement carried out in accordance with approved procedures

According to the company, all contracts were concluded in accordance with the strategy approved by Energocom’s Board of Directors and the natural gas procurement procedure approved by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
