The Romanian Royal Family Supports Moldova’s Economic Development and European Integration

Between October 22-23, Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and His Royal Highness Prince Radu are undertaking an official visit to Chișinău, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, supporting higher education, and promoting the country’s European trajectory.

Upon arrival at Chișinău International Airport, the Royal Family was welcomed by Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, marking the start of a visit with strong symbolic and practical impact on the economic and institutional relations between the two states.

Subsequently, at the Presidency, Her Majesty and Prince Radu held an official meeting with President Maia Sandu. Discussions focused on identifying and implementing joint projects in the economic, administrative, educational, cultural, and sustainable development sectors. Emphasis was placed on Romania’s active support for Moldova’s integration into the European Union, as well as on the development of concrete tools to stimulate economic growth and modernize public infrastructure.

During the meeting, joint projects of the Royal House and Moldova’s state institutions were reviewed, aimed at supporting the education sector, entrepreneurial initiatives, and cross-border cooperation. In this way, the Royal Family indirectly contributes to creating a predictable and transparent economic environment favorable to investment and sustainable development.

The visit symbolizes not only the deep solidarity between Romania and Moldova, but also the Royal House’s role as a promoter of European values, including good economic governance, transparency, and sustainable development. The agenda includes meetings with business representatives, civil society organizations, and academic institutions, all focused on identifying solutions to enhance competitiveness and economic innovation.

This is the 23rd visit of the Royal Family to Moldova over the last two decades, a clear signal of the Royal House’s ongoing commitment to the country’s economic and European progress. From 2005 to the present, members of the Royal Family have visited multiple cities and towns – Chișinău, Bălți, Orhei, Soroca, Ialoveni, among others – engaging in initiatives supporting civil society, culture, education, and European integration, thereby contributing to the consolidation of a stable and development-oriented economic environment.

Through such visits and initiatives, the Romanian Royal Family reaffirms its role as a strategic partner in supporting Moldova’s economic, educational, and institutional reforms, while promoting a solid and sustainable European trajectory.
