Transcarpathia Strengthens Cooperation with Regions in Romania

The Transcarpathia region is expanding its cooperation with partners in Romania within the framework of the Carpathian Integration Initiative, a platform aimed at developing relations between regions across the Carpathian area. A new partnership agreement seeks to intensify cross-border cooperation and identify joint development opportunities.

Cooperation in Strategic Areas

The partnership covers several sectors of importance for regional development, including the economy, transport infrastructure, tourism, environmental protection, education, culture, agriculture and healthcare.

An important objective is the preparation and implementation of joint projects aimed at attracting European funding, which would contribute to the development of infrastructure and public services in the participating regions.

Opportunities for the Business Community

Cross-border economic cooperation is a key component of the new initiative. The authorities aim to strengthen relations between companies in Romania and Ukraine through joint investments, access to new markets and the development of cross-border economic projects.

The partnership could create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors while contributing to closer integration of the regional economies.

Transport and Cross-Border Infrastructure as Priorities

The areas under discussion include the development of railway connections, the expansion of transport corridors and the improvement of logistics infrastructure.

Opportunities are also being explored to use Romania’s airport infrastructure for logistics projects and to develop new border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania, measures that could facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Representatives of Transcarpathia emphasize that the regions of the Carpathian area have developed strong economic, cultural and historical ties over the years, and that strengthening these relations can generate tangible benefits for local communities.

The new cooperation aims to transform these ties into a platform for economic development, investment and joint projects of regional importance.

Economic Summit Dedicated to the Carpathian Regions

The next stage of the initiative is scheduled for September, when the first economic summit of the Carpathian Integration Initiative is set to take place in Transcarpathia.

The event will bring together representatives of the eight Carpathian countries, as well as members of the international business community, providing a platform for identifying new investment projects and strengthening cross-border economic cooperation.
