Romanian Language Day Celebrated at the Museum of Romanians on the Right Bank of the Tisza

Romanian Language Day was marked at the Museum of Romanians on the Right Bank of the Tisza through an event dedicated to the Romanian language, culture and identity. The event brought together members of the Romanian community in Transcarpathia, students, artists and representatives of the Consulate of Romania in Solotvyno.

The Romanian Community, United Under the Message “The Language That Unites Us”

The event, held under the theme “The Language That Unites Us”, brought together students from the “Alexandru Ciplea” High School in Bila Tserkva, members of the “BESERMENII” Folk Ensemble, poet Gheorghe Mois, as well as representatives of the Consulate of Romania in Solotvyno.

According to information published by Vasile Tiple, the event highlighted the role of the Romanian language in preserving the identity, culture and traditions of the historic Romanian communities in Transcarpathia.

Project for the Preservation of Romanian Heritage

The event also included a presentation of the results of the project “Conservation, Equipment and Cultural Revitalization at the Museum of Romanians on the Right Bank of the Tisza”, funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad.

Through the project, the museum and the local community received equipment and resources designed to support cultural activities, promote traditions and preserve the Romanian heritage of the region.

Equipment for Cultural and Traditional Activities

As part of the project, one laptop and ten traditional costumes were purchased for the “BESERMENII” Folk Ensemble, along with a range of traditional and handicraft items.

The equipment acquired includes 25 plates, 25 traditional jugs, 25 tablecloths, 25 traditional towels, 50 chairs, three tables and two traditional shelves.

Investing in Passing Traditions on to Younger Generations

According to the organizers, the new equipment will enable the museum to expand its cultural activities and make more effective use of the local traditional heritage.

The project also contributes to passing the Romanian language, traditions and cultural values on to younger generations, strengthening the museum’s role as a space for education and the promotion of Romanian identity.

The Museum as a Space for Memory and Identity

The Museum of Romanians on the Right Bank of the Tisza represents an important cultural center for the Romanian community in Transcarpathia, providing a space dedicated to preserving local memory, traditions and heritage.

At the end of the event, the organizers conveyed the message that formed the central theme of the celebration: “The language that unites us. The culture that defines us. The tradition that keeps us together.”
