TOPIC: “Investments in Vatra Dornei from 2012 to 2024”

Marius Rîpan, the Mayor of Vatra Dornei, shared the achievements and challenges the city has faced during the period from 2012 to 2024.

In his address, Rîpan highlighted his commitment to developing Vatra Dornei over his 12 years in office, eight of which he spent actively involved in local public administration. “We have successfully attracted investments worth over 250 million euros from various funding sources. These include 42% from external funds, 40% from government funds, 9% from the local budget, and 9% from other sources”, Mayor Rîpan stated.

Infrastructure and modernization

The municipality focused its efforts on modernizing the city’s basic infrastructure, including expanding the water and sewage network, implementing a gasification system, and improving school facilities. “We replaced the city’s heating plant, extended the hot water and heating distribution network by 32 kilometers, and implemented modernization projects in all schools and kindergartens in Vatra Dornei”, Rîpan noted.

Marius Rîpan also acknowledged the challenges faced by the local community, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic fluctuations, and rising prices. Despite these obstacles, the sustained efforts to attract both external and internal funds enabled the city to overcome these challenges and continue progressing in a positive direction.

Impact on the Community

“Vatra Dornei was recognized for excellence in education in 2019, and we continue to strive towards development. We want our city to become an attractive tourist destination, a civilized and welcoming place for all visitors”, added Mayor Rîpan.
