TOPIC: “The Role of the Physiotherapist in the Context of New Legislative Changes”
During the “Regional Economic Forum Moldova 2024,” Adrian Miulescu, Manager of the National Institute of Physical Medical Recovery and Balneoclimatology, highlighted the importance of physiotherapists in light of the new legislative changes. “Physiotherapists play an essential role in the healthcare system, and these legislative changes have emphasized the importance of their profession,” said Adrian Miulescu.
The new legislative changes have brought increased recognition to physiotherapists in the healthcare system. With clearer regulation of competencies and responsibilities, physiotherapists are now better positioned to contribute to improving patients’ health. “This recognition not only validates our work but also strengthens patients’ trust in the services provided,” explained the Manager of the National Institute of Physical Medical Recovery and Balneoclimatology.
Extended Access to Quality Services
The recent legislation has facilitated patient access to quality physiotherapy services. Now, patients can benefit from faster and more efficient interventions, without encountering bureaucratic barriers. This is essential for post-traumatic recovery and the treatment of chronic conditions, where early intervention can make a significant difference.
Professional Autonomy
The new laws have granted physiotherapists greater professional autonomy. This allows professionals to make informed decisions and apply the most suitable therapeutic techniques without waiting for additional approvals. “Professional autonomy improves the quality of treatment and increases the satisfaction and motivation of physiotherapists,” mentioned Adrian Miulescu.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Recent legislation encourages interdisciplinary collaboration between physiotherapists and other healthcare specialists. “This integrated approach is beneficial for patients, ensuring holistic and coordinated treatment. Physiotherapists contribute their specific expertise to complex treatment plans, thereby improving outcomes for patients,” explained Adrian Miulescu.
Continuing Education and Professional Development
The legislative changes have imposed higher standards for physiotherapists’ education and ongoing training. This ensures that professionals are always up to date with the latest discoveries and techniques in the field, translating into more efficient and safer services for patients.
Positive Economic Impact
Better regulation and integration of physiotherapy into the healthcare system also have a positive economic impact. By preventing complications and promoting rapid recovery, physiotherapists help reduce long-term medical costs and increase the productivity of the population. Adrian Miulescu concluded: “recent legislative changes have strengthened the status and role of the physiotherapist, opening up new opportunities for improving healthcare services.”
It is essential to continue supporting these positive changes and to collaborate in ensuring an efficient and accessible healthcare system for everyone.
