The Romanian drone project moves forward! Today, together with Minister of Economy Ştefan Radu Oprea, I visited INCAS – the National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development ‘Elie Carafoli,’ which has been managing cutting-edge aerospace research projects in Romania for over 75 years. Together, we found solutions for the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization and the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism to build a prototype for the Romanian drone, a fully integrated and authentic product of Romanian specialists, from creation and design to production,” Ivan wrote on Facebook.

He highlighted that the drone construction will utilize optoelectronics equipment designed by Romanians and innovative Romanian IT systems, “all generated by the brilliant minds of Romanian researchers.

For his part, Minister of Economy Ştefan Radu Oprea noted on the same social media page that INCAS already has developed projects for drone systems.

I saw studies, prototypes, equipment, and functional systems that give me confidence that, together with companies from the defense industry with private and state capital, and companies that continuously innovate in software, artificial intelligence, microelectronics, or optoelectronics, the project for the industrialization of Romanian drones can become a reality,” Oprea added.
