A new section of the Moldova motorway to open this summer! Massive mobilization on the A7 construction site
Work on one of the most important sections of the Moldova Motorway is advancing rapidly, and drivers could be able to travel on the entire second lot of the Focșani–Bacău motorway as early as this summer. Cristian Pistol, director general of CNAIR, announced that construction progress has reached 95%.
Major Mobilization for the Final Stage of Works
The UMB contractor is working intensively on the final kilometers of the route, where asphalt paving, road marking, and guardrail installation are currently underway. Around 350 workers and 120 pieces of equipment are operating on the construction site.
Lot 2 of the A7 Focșani–Bacău motorway has a total length of approximately 39 kilometers. Part of the route, namely the 13.2-kilometer section between Domnești Târg and Adjud, was already opened to traffic in December 2025.
Nearly 400 Kilometers of Motorway by the End of the Year
According to Cristian Pistol, traffic on the entire lot will be opened no later than August 2026. At the same time, the 49-kilometer Bacău–Pașcani motorway section is also expected to be inaugurated.
The head of CNAIR stated that by the end of this year, Romania will have nearly 400 kilometers of continuous high-speed road connecting Bucharest to Pașcani.
“By the end of this year, drivers will be able to travel on 397 kilometers of motorway from Bucharest to Pașcani, including the A3 (Bucharest–Ploiești), A7 (Ploiești–Pașcani), and the 16-kilometer Bacău bypass,” Cristian Pistol wrote on Facebook.
