Bacău-Based Company Dedeman Ranks Second Among the Largest Private Employers in Romania

Dedeman, the Bacău-based company and leader in Romania’s DIY market, ranks second in the list of the largest private employers in the country, with over 12,000 employees

According to a ranking by Ziarul Financiar, Dedeman has 12,113 employees, further solidifying its position not only as a market leader but also as a significant employer at the national level.

The ranking reveals that 28% of the companies in the top are from the commerce sector, while 12 companies are from the automotive industry, either involved in car manufacturing or in the production of automotive components. Additionally, six of Romania’s largest employers are in the information and communications sector.

In total, the top 50 companies employed 282,752 people last year, an increase of approximately 3,600 employees compared to the previous year.

Regarding financial performance, Dedeman reported significant growth in its turnover in 2023, reaching 11.5 billion lei (approximately 2.3 billion euros), an increase of 500 million lei compared to 2022. The company’s profit, controlled by brothers Dragoș and Adrian Pavăl, amounted to 1.5 billion lei (300 million euros), further establishing Dedeman as the most valuable brand in Romania, wholly owned by Romanian shareholders.

With 62 stores and 5 logistics centers nationwide, Dedeman continues to expand its operations and remains a top employer in Romania.
