Grup Șerban Holding announces funding approval for two projects through AFIR
Grup Șerban Holding announced the approval of funding for two projects through the Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR): a potato processing plant for french fries and the expansion of cold storage capacity for vegetables
“The management of Grup Șerban Holding SA informs the market about the approval of funding for two projects through the Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR): 1. A project funded through the National Investment Program InvestAlim, which includes: A french fries potato processing plant located in Sascut, Bacau County, which will be the largest potato processing line in Romania with Romanian capital, and will have a capacity of 6 tons per hour of fried potatoes and 1.2 tons per hour of potato flakes, with production aimed at both the local and international markets,” the company announced in a statement sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).
The annual capacity of the plant will be 30,000 tons of fried potatoes and 6,000 tons of potato flakes.
“Companies that stop expanding will eventually perish. Looking to the future, GSH’s next project objective is to develop a poorly represented industry in Romania: processing potatoes for frozen french fries and potato flakes,” said Nicolae Șerban, founder of Grup Șerban Holding.
The second project is funded through measure DR 22 – Investments in the conditioning, storage, and processing of agricultural and horticultural products, which involves expanding the cold storage capacity for vegetables, including the construction of 5 cold storage facilities, each with a capacity of 6,000 tons, for a total capacity of 30,000 tons.
Additionally, the project includes a logistics warehouse of 5,000 square meters and a line for sorting, washing, and packaging potatoes, with a capacity of 10 tons per hour of finished product. This project will support Grup Șerban’s ability to store, sort, and prepare potatoes for processing and distribution, facilitating efficient production management in its facilities.
By the end of 2024, Grup Șerban Holding will strengthen its position in the market as the leading cold storage provider in Romania, with a capacity of 21,500 tons. After the project is completed, the group will have a total cold storage capacity of 51,500 tons.
“Through the two projects – the potato processing plant and the storage and processing facilities – we complete the cycle initiated by Grup Șerban Holding in recent years. These investments close the loop of our production chain: from harvesting to processing, storage, and delivery. Thus, we achieve complete control of the process, ensuring consistent quality and superior efficiency,” said Irina Șerban, co-founder of Grup Șerban Holding.
Both projects are scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2028.
