A significant step has been taken in the implementation of the project to rehabilitate, modernize, and expand the Botoșani Municipal Stadium, a project valued at approximately 160 million lei
A delegation from the municipality, led by Mayor Cosmin Andrei, attended a pre-CTE (Technical-Economic Council) meeting at the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration (MDLPA) today, where technical details of this ambitious project were discussed.
“The next step is approval in the MDLPA’s CTE. From there, only one step remains before signing the financing contract. Subsequently, the National Investment Company will be able to launch the public tender for the execution of the works,” stated Botoșani Mayor Cosmin Andrei.
The project not only aims to rehabilitate the existing structure but also to significantly modernize it, including the construction of covered stands with a seating capacity of 10,000 – 12,000, all offering optimal visibility for spectators. The stadium will also be equipped with modern facilities for people with disabilities, ensuring comfort for all attendees.
Another important objective is to classify the stadium according to the standards of the Romanian Football Federation and UEFA, with certification as a medium-capacity stadium (arena type) and Category I – international competition level, as well as UEFA Category 4.
In addition to its primary sporting function, the stadium will also integrate essential community facilities, including:
- training and recovery rooms for athletes and third parties;
- administrative and service spaces, including offices;
- commercial and public catering spaces;
- underground parking for both sporting events and residents in the stadium area.
These facilities will enable the stadium to host other types of events, such as concerts, conferences, social or commercial gatherings, such as fairs and exhibitions. Additionally, the auxiliary commercial spaces will house sports merchandise stores bearing the insignia of the local club.
The history of Botoșani Municipal Stadium dates back to the 1970s-1990s when it was built in two stages: stands A (east) and B (west) between 1970-1980 and terraces C (south) and D (north) during the 1980s-1990s. Currently, the stadium has a capacity of 7,600 seats, but once the works are completed, it will undergo significant expansion.
