22 Projects Worth €30.4 Million Selected for Funding Under the Romania-Serbia Interreg IPA Program

A total of 22 projects, with a combined value of €30.4 million, have been selected for funding at the fifth Monitoring Committee meeting of the Romania-Serbia Interreg IPA Program

These projects target areas such as environmental protection, emergency management, and economic and social development in the border region.

The initiatives aim to enhance healthcare infrastructure, civil protection, and disaster management capabilities. This includes acquiring cutting-edge equipment and providing professional training for medical and emergency personnel, according to a press release from the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration (MDLPA).

Additionally, the projects will finance socio-medical services for vulnerable populations and innovative tourism products to promote historical monuments and natural attractions in the border area.

For the 2021-2027 period, MDLPA serves as the Managing Authority for the Romania-Serbia Interreg IPA Program, which has a total budget of €87.7 million. The program will support projects focused on environmental protection, climate change adaptation, healthcare, education, tourism, and border management. It was approved by the European Commission on July 19, 2022, making it the first Interreg IPA Program in Europe approved for the 2021-2027 period.

Beneficiaries will exclusively use the JeMS IT system for submitting documents and will benefit from simplified cost options.
