CAPDR Kicks Off Autumn 2026 with an Extensive Series of VIA MOLDAVIA Regional Meetings

September and October 2026 bring an intensive period of fieldwork for the Centre for Regional Development Analysis and Planning – CAPDR, dedicated to the configuration and operationalization of the tourism micro-destinations within the VIA MOLDAVIA Programme

The meetings scheduled in Romania and the Republic of Moldova aim to transform local resources into an integrated tourism offer that is verified, structured and ready for promotion and commercialization.

The core concept: the micro-destination builds the local offer, the route connects it regionally, the network validates it, while the VIA MOLDAVIA platform transforms it into a tourism experience that is easy to discover and use.

The work programme proposed by CAPDR is based on a simple idea: regional tourism becomes competitive when attractions, services, experiences and local communities are connected within a coherent network.

Within the VIA MOLDAVIA architecture, each micro-destination develops its local offer, the routes connect it at regional level, the network validates it, while the VIA MOLDAVIA platform and application are intended to transform this offer into an experience that can be easily discovered and used by tourists.

September – the month of building micro-destinations in the field

From mapping local resources to developing concrete tourism products

The VIA MOLDAVIA meetings are designed as practical working sessions. The objective is not merely to present the tourism potential, but to develop an operational map of each micro-destination.

The CAPDR methodology starts by defining a central point and mapping the offer within a standard radius of approximately 20 kilometres. Six major components are inventoried:

  • accommodation;
  • gastronomy;
  • tourist attractions;
  • events;
  • experiences;
  • services for tourists.

For each mapped location, information such as exact location, accessibility, opening hours and availability, contact details, presentation content, opportunities for integration into routes and the date of the latest verification is recorded.

SELECT → VALIDATE → BUILD → TEST → SELL

The aim is to transform the scattered resources of a territory into tourism experiences lasting several hours or a full day, two- or three-day products and, subsequently, regional circuits connecting several micro-destinations.

Connecting the local level to the Northern Route and the entire VIA MOLDAVIA network

Each micro-destination is also analysed in relation to neighbouring territories. CAPDR seeks to identify entry and exit points, main routes, secondary connections – referred to in the programme methodology as “tributaries” – as well as functional intersections between the Northern Route, the Central Route and the Southern Route.

Within this framework, tourists should be able to build a continuous journey: arriving at a destination, spending time within it and continuing towards another micro-destination, without the tourism offer being perceived as a succession of isolated points.

October – programme expansion and the Republic of Moldova component

Activities continue in October. On 2 October, at the Șaru Dornei Town Hall, the meeting for RN-04 – Dornelor Basin is scheduled, covering Șaru Dornei, Dorna Arini, Panaci, Dorna Candrenilor, Vatra Dornei and Poiana Stampei.

An important milestone is scheduled for 6 October, in Chișinău, at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, for RN-14 – Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, with the calendar indicating the Republic of Moldova as the relevant territorial area.

On 9 October, the programme includes the meeting for RN-10 – Cultural Botoșani – memorial houses and cultural heritage.

For RN-11 – Iași – business tourism, city breaks and religious tourism, and for RN-15 – Red Lake, the dates are still pending confirmation, according to the official calendar.

From local meetings to the VIA MOLDAVIA platform

One of the essential components of the process is the integration of information into a back-office system. The offer is proposed by members and operators within the network, then profiled, verified and validated, prepared for translation, published in the VIA MOLDAVIA application and periodically updated.

Thus, the meetings held in September and October are not isolated events, but stages in the development of a common territorial and digital tourism infrastructure.

At the end of each meeting, concrete outcomes are pursued: a working map of the micro-destination, a register of attractions and services, initial routes, tourism product sheets, connections with other micro-destinations, a list of information required for the platform, and local responsibilities for completing and updating the data.

VIA MOLDAVIA International Tourism Fair – the convergence point of field activities

The fieldwork process is geared towards a central milestone: the VIA MOLDAVIA International Tourism Fair, scheduled for 26–28 October 2026, at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.

If local meetings represent the stage of building and validating the tourism offer, the fair is designed as the stage for presentation, B2B networking and contracting.

The tourism products selected in the field will be prepared for presentation to travel agencies, operators, partners and other interested stakeholders, creating a direct link between local resources and the tourism market.

Two months of work towards building a functional tourism network

Through the September–October 2026 calendar, CAPDR proposes moving beyond the simple promotion of tourist attractions towards the effective organization of destinations.

Public administrations, Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), tourist information centres, HoReCa operators, managers of tourist attractions, cultural and religious institutions, travel agencies, guides, local producers, the business community and all other stakeholders involved in the tourism development of the territory are invited to participate in building this network.

The principle that summarizes the entire activity is formulated in the VIA MOLDAVIA methodology itself:

“Each micro-destination is built locally, connected regionally, validated through the network and transformed into a tourism experience through VIA MOLDAVIA.”

September and October 2026 thus become the months in which CAPDR moves VIA MOLDAVIA increasingly from the concept stage towards the territory, operational structuring, digitalization and the tourism market.
