Ion ȘTEFANOVICI: “The Moldova Region Opens Its Doors to China – At FERM 2025, We Launch the Iași Branch of the Romania–China Chamber of Commerce”
The Moldova Region takes a new strategic step towards economic internationalization. During the Regional Economic Forum Moldova (FERM 2025), which will take place from July 9–13 in Vatra Dornei, we will launch the Iași Branch of the Romania–China Chamber of Commerce and Industry – a key moment for Moldova’s foreign trade and for its repositioning on the global economic map.
The event will take place within Panel 3 – Foreign Trade, under the theme “Positioning Moldova on International Markets”, bringing together government representatives, bilateral chambers, embassies, business people, investors, experts, and universities. Alongside the delegation from China and the Romanian partners involved in bilateral relations, we will concretely discuss the opportunities we have in areas such as exports, logistics, agriculture, green technologies, tourism, and entrepreneurial education.
An initiative born in China, with impact in Moldova
The Iași Branch was announced following the recent economic mission organized in China, where alongside former senior officials, representatives of public administration, consultants, and entrepreneurs, we identified a real interest for the Moldova Region as a new development hub. The launch of this branch is not a formal gesture, but a commitment: to build durable commercial relations, attract investments, and offer Moldovan companies direct access channels to the Chinese market.
From official visits to commercial contracts
Moldova must move from courtesy visits to commercial partnerships. The Romania–China Chamber, through the new Iași branch, will mediate contacts, support negotiation processes, and build bridges between entrepreneurs, county councils, universities, and local authorities. Here, in Moldova, doors open for foreign trade, and CAPDR assumes this institutional effort.
Not only with China – but with the whole world
Although the focus will be on the bilateral relationship with China, the panel will also address cooperation directions with other emerging markets: Turkey, Serbia, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, as well as with traditional partners from the European Union. FERM 2025 thus becomes the main platform for regional economic diplomacy for Moldova.
“The opening of the Iași Branch of the Romania–China Chamber of Commerce is the beginning of a strategy. We can no longer remain closed within an internal economy. Moldova has resources, energy, strength. We just need to connect them to the world that is coming towards us. And this forum will demonstrate exactly this.”
President of CAPDR
