Romania will invest 230 million euros in digital technologies for healthcare

Romania will allocate 230 million euros through a new call for proposals under the Health Program to support innovative solutions in the medical field. These projects will target the research and development of healthcare services, facilitating access to modern treatments, equipping with state-of-the-art technology, and implementing critical investments for the healthcare system.

The Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) emphasizes that the funds will significantly contribute to increasing the resilience of the healthcare system and improving the population’s access to medical care. The funded projects will transform the way medical services are provided by using artificial intelligence for rapid diagnostics, advanced technologies for personalized treatments, and innovation in drug production.

“Hospitals, research centers, and healthcare companies will accelerate the implementation of these technologies to streamline medical systems and enhance patients’ lives,” said Minister Marcel Boloș.

The financing will cover applied research, the development and production of critical technologies, as well as the necessary infrastructure for their implementation. Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to build research centers, production lines for essential drugs, and gain access to the equipment needed for research activities. The projects must align with smart specialization areas and contribute to the development of research and innovation capacities.
