The Bridge over the Prut River at Ungheni will be completed in 2026. The project will be carried out by the company currently working on the SRU Iași
The Tender for the Design and Construction of the Prut Bridge – Comprising Two Identical Bridges, One for Each Direction – Has Concluded
Wednesday was the final day for submitting challenges regarding the selection of the winning bidder, and no challenges were registered.
The winning company, Ness Proiect Europe SRL, which is also working on the Regional Emergency Hospital, will have two years to complete the two bridges, each 261 meters long—six months for design and 18 months for construction. The entire complex, including customs and border control facilities, will span approximately 1 kilometer at Golăiești-Ungheni. Each bridge will feature two traffic lanes, an 8-meter-wide roadway, and sidewalks. Most of the costs, exceeding 150 million lei, will be covered by European funds through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
Next Week’s Bidding for Segments of the A8 Mountainous Section
Next week will mark the end of the registration period for the tenders for two segments of the A8 mountainous section, unless new delays are announced. The segments in question are Miercurea Nirajului-Sărățeni/Sovata and Leghin/Tg. Neamț-Pipirig. The procedures were launched earlier this spring.
Current Status of the Prut Bridge Complex at Cotul Bran
The environmental agreement for the Iași section of the Union Highway (A8) could be issued next week or immediately after the mid-month mini-vacation. This will allow for the completion of the feasibility study update for the 93 kilometers of the Iași section of A8. “The procedure for preparing the government decision for the technical-economic indicators is next,” said Cătălin Urtoi. The investment will be taken over by CNIR and funded through the European Transport Program 2021-2027 (40% non-repayable funds, 60% from the state budget).
The First Construction Site on the Union Highway
By the end of the month, work on the Moțca-Tg. Neamț segment must commence, marking the opening of the first construction site on the 311-kilometer route of the Union Highway, excluding the intersection of A8 with A7 near Pașcani, which is part of the Moldova Highway project.
The Tg. Mureș-Miercurea Nirajului segment is expected to enter the construction phase by the end of autumn. The last four lots of the mountainous section, from Pipirig to Sărățeni, have been taken over by CNIR and will be progressively tendered for design and execution between October and December. By the end of the year, the government decision with the technical-economic indicators for A8 in Iași County should be issued, paving the way for the tender of this highway section.
