A8 Motorway Tg. Neamț – Iași – Ungheni: CNAIR Approved the Feasibility Study

The Technical-Economic Council (CTE) of CNAIR approved the Feasibility Study for the Târgu Neamț – Iași – Ungheni section of the A8 Union Motorway on Wednesday, announced General Director Cristian Pistol.

The designer, Consitrans, is expected to also prepare the technical project. However, CNAIR may suggest skipping this stage to expedite the execution tender and secure European funding. The contract is significantly delayed (approximately one year), and there is a risk that the tender for construction works may not be launched by the end of the year, while other major projects, such as the Oradea – Arad Expressway (worth 2 billion euros), are already in the bid evaluation phase.

Along the 93.269 km route, the following will be constructed:

  • 101 bridges/overpasses,
  • 14 tunnels,

The total estimated value for the construction of this section of the A8 (Union Motorway) is 26.39 billion lei (excluding VAT). Before the tender for the construction of the Târgu Neamț – Iași – Ungheni motorway can be launched, the following steps must be completed:

  • Approval of the Feasibility Study (SF) by the CTE of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure,
  • Approval of the SF by the Interministerial Council,
  • Approval of the technical-economic indicators by Government Decision,” stated Cristian Pistol.

For the Târgu Neamț-Iași-Ungheni section, funding from the Technical Project (PT) is approximately 900 million euros, with an estimated cost of around 2.5 billion euros (to be determined after the SF is finalized and the technical-economic indicators are approved).
