On October 25th, Iași will host the Trilateral Economic Forum for Business and Reconstruction in Ukraine. This event aims to provide a platform for discussions about the current economic climate in Ukraine and business opportunities, both in the present and in the future post-conflict reconstruction. Participants will have access to updated information about government initiatives, infrastructure projects, and key economic sectors that require investment.
Additionally, the event seeks to position Iași as a strategic regional hub between Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, opening new avenues for collaboration and strategic partnerships between companies, organizations, and authorities from the three countries.
The Trilateral Economic Forum will take place at the Palace of Culture and is organized by the Iași Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova, the Romanian Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade, the Association of Romanian Investors in Moldova, the Romanian Embassy and the Economic Promotion Office in Chișinău, the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania, and the Union of Ukrainians in Romania. The event is also supported by other regional chambers of commerce (CCI Vaslui, CCI Botoșani), bilateral chambers of commerce (French CCI in Romania, Poland-Romania CCI), the North-East Regional Development Agency, as well as the Romanian Consulates General in Chernivtsi and Odessa.
The forum will welcome representatives from the business community – entrepreneurs, managers, and investors from various sectors, both domestic and international, interested in exploring business opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships. Representatives of local, regional, and national chambers of commerce and industry, as well as bilateral chambers, are also expected to attend.
Additionally, government and local authority representatives from sectors such as energy, economy, transportation, technology, infrastructure, and regional development, along with experts in construction and urban planning, will discuss national and regional policies and strategies to stimulate investment and economic development.
The event will also feature members of the diplomatic corps – ambassadors and commercial attachés from Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, and other interested countries – who will provide diplomatic perspectives and support cooperation initiatives.
Furthermore, the forum will include members of the academic community and civil society – university professors, researchers, and representatives of non-governmental organizations – who will contribute to discussions on development and international cooperation.
Paul Butnariu, President of the Iași Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated: “Through this Trilateral Economic Forum Romania – Ukraine – Moldova, we aim to achieve at least four major objectives. First, identifying priorities – facilitating a structured dialogue to understand the main business development priorities in the current war conditions in Ukraine, as well as in the reconstruction of infrastructure and economic development in post-conflict Ukraine. Second, stimulating business relations – promoting trade and investment opportunities in the region and building trust mechanisms for establishing business-to-business partnerships. Another major objective is promoting Iași and our region as a strategic regional hub, highlighting the strategic advantages of Iași County and city in the context of regional and international cooperation. Lastly, strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding them into trilateral relations. In other words, encouraging collaboration between Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova to develop joint projects and promote regional stability and development. We believe that the forum represents an extraordinary opportunity to explore and develop economic relations between Romania and Ukraine, as well as with Moldova, and through the presentations, discussions, and networking sessions, participants will be able to identify concrete business opportunities, establish strategic partnerships, and actively contribute to regional economic development and reconstruction efforts in war-affected areas. Additionally, the event will highlight the role of Moldovan companies and authorities in encouraging and supporting the development of commercial bridges between Romanian and Ukrainian companies.”
On the morning of October 25th, the forum will begin at 10:00 AM with a plenary session, featuring speeches and presentations from representatives of authorities, the diplomatic corps, and partner organizations. Following the opening session, the event will continue with three trilateral panels focusing on essential themes for regional collaboration: the panel on Energy and Innovative Technologies, the panel on Logistics and Infrastructure, and the panel on Construction and Urban Renewal.
After a working lunch, participating companies from the three countries will engage in business-to-business discussions, providing an opportunity to develop concrete partnerships and collaborations. This networking session is expected to conclude at 5:00 PM.
It is also worth noting that the forum will be preceded by an official dinner on the evening of October 24th, giving participants the chance to initiate their first contacts in a more relaxed setting before the official proceedings begin.
